What are the eligibility criteria?
Applicants for Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi's residency and fellowship must meet the eligibility criteria below.
- Cumulative medical school Grade Point Average (GPA) of greater than or equal to 3.0 (on a 4.0 point scale), or its equivalent.
- Fulfilment of licensure requirements as set by the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi.
- Fulfilment of MEAD criteria as per the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi.
Application prioritization is given to applicants who demonstrate the following:
- Excellent academic records.
- Excellent performance on USMLE steps 1 and 2 Clinical Knowledge, or equivalent medical exams.
- Proof of English language proficiency. TOEFL - a minimum score of 80 for online exam, or 550 on the paper exam, IELTS - a minimum score of 6.5 on the academic test.

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is required to follow the Abu Dhabi Residency and fellowship application and match processes called MEAD.
Any candidate wishing to pursue post graduate training at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, will need to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria listed in the previous section and fill in the Department of Health MEAD application.

When should I apply?
The MEAD application form is available between February and March, and should be submitted by the end of March. You will need to register for a MEAD online account in order to complete and submit your application.
Specific exam dates and entry requirements for each year can be found by logging in to the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi website.
