Dr. Sacha Sidani, MD, is a Staff Physician within the Gastroenterology Department of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Digestive Disease Institute.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Sidani worked as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at the University of Montreal Hospital Center in Montreal, Canada. He was also appointed Director of the Neurogastroenterology and Motility Laboratory at the University of Montreal, as well as the Gut Microbiota Lead in the Division of Gastroenterology, at the Faculty of Medicine.
Dr. Sidani received his medical degree from the University of Montreal in Canada. He completed his Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Montreal Hospital Center. He then underwent additional advanced training in the gut microbiota and gut-brain axis disorders at the renowned Farncombe Family Digestive Health Institute at McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada.
Dr. Sidani has received numerous awards and grants for his research work, including for the best presentations at international meetings. During fellowship, he was also awarded the Douglas G. Kinnear scholarship for his outstanding dedication to gastroenterology research. He also received the Farncombe Family grant for his work on the gut microbiota.
Dr. Sidani is also deeply dedicated to medical education at all levels. He was an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Montreal and taught at all levels of medical school. He served as Board Member of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship Training Program at the University of Montreal and was a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Adult Gastroenterology certification examination committee.
Dr. Sidani is passionate about all areas of gastroenterology, especially gut-brain axis and motility disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, as well as in the role of gut microbiota in digestive health. He is also interested in disorders of the small intestine, such as malabsorption and feeding difficulties. His most recent area of interest comprises the use of Artificial Intelligence for improving accuracy and safety in gastrointestinal endoscopy.
Dr. Sidani resides in Abu Dhabi with his wife. In his spare time, he enjoys water activities, fulfilling his passion for aviation and traveling.
