21Dr. Iqbal M Binoj, MD, is a Staff Physician within the Hospital Medicine Department of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Hospital Care Institute.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Binoj practiced as Lead Hospital Medicine Consultant at Genesis Medical Center, Quad Cities, Iowa, US. The center is a Tertiary Level referral center for the Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois regions. It has been ranked among the US Top 15 Health Systems by Fortune/IBM Watson.
Dr. Binoj received his medical degree from Sri Ramachandra Medical College & Research Institute, Dr, M.G.R Medical University, Chennai, India. He completed his residency at Interfaith Medical Center, SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, Brooklyn, New York.
He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and a fellow of the American College of Physicians and of the Society of Hospital Medicine. He is also a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Binoj has extensive experience in treating complex medical multisystem diseases, requiring multidisciplinary care in inpatient settings. With a broad knowledge of acute care medicine, Dr. Binoj is often the primary inpatient physician for non-surgical patients. He takes the role of physician lead for those patients requiring coordination of care when both surgical and non-surgical interventions are planned.
Dr. Binoj has held various positions within hospital systems, such as Chair of Utilization Review, Inpatient Operations, Diabetes Care Steering Committee, DVT Prevention Task Force, and Emergency Medical Response Committee among others. He has a special interest in Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) in inpatient practice. He incorporates bedside ultrasound use for complex multisystem diseases, thereby improving quality of care and increasing the chance of favorable patient outcomes. He has additional interests in Graduate Medical Education.
Dr. Binoj is a core faculty member who was involved in setting up the first Residency program at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. He is passionate about teaching residents and interns, and his efforts have contributed to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi being NIHS and ACGMEI Certified for Graduate Medical Education. His passion for teaching also extends beyond medical education and he has a special interest in spiritual education.
Dr. Binoj resides in Abu Dhabi with his wife and two daughters. He spends his free time pursuing Islamic studies. As a father, he devotes time to his children's afterschool activities and Islamic education. He enjoys badminton and reading.
