Dr. Tarek Elsayed, MD, MBBCH, BSc (Hons), FACEM, CCPU, is a Staff Physician within the Emergency Medicine Department of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Hospital Care Institute.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Elsayed was an Emergency Consultant at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC), Abu Dhabi, UAE, one of the region’s leading trauma and critical care centers. He has expertise in critical care, cardiac and neurological emergencies, and point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS). He also has extensive experience managing high-acuity cases in tertiary centers and is committed to delivering safe, evidence-based emergency care.
Dr. Elsayed earned his medical degree from Cardiff University, UK, and completed his specialist training in Emergency Medicine in Australia. He undertook a Fellowship in POCUS at Gold Coast University Hospital, where he refined his skills in ultrasound-guided diagnostics and procedures. He subsequently held the position of Ultrasound Director and Consultant Emergency Physician at Gold Coast University Hospital.
A passionate educator, Dr. Elsayed was appointed Assistant Professor of Medicine at Bond University, Australia, and took on the role of Core Faculty in multiple residency programs. He has led curriculum development and training initiatives, with a strong focus on integrating bedside ultrasound and innovative teaching methodologies into emergency care education.
Dr. Elsayed actively mentors physicians in acute care and ultrasound applications, helping build local capacity and elevate standards in emergency practice. His long-term interests include expanding research in critical care and ultrasound to improve patient outcomes and advance the field.
Fluent in English and Arabic, with proficiency in Spanish, Dr. Elsayed values clear communication and culturally sensitive care. Outside of medicine, he is an avid adventurer who enjoys off-road motorcycling, hiking, exploring the outdoors, and spending quality time with his family – pursuits that reflect his dynamic, hands-on approach to life and work.
At Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Elsayed continues to drive excellence in clinical care, education, and innovation, contributing to the development of a world-class Emergency Medicine service.
