Ammar Kheir, MBBS, is a Staff Physician in the Digestive Disease Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Kheir was a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Therapeutic Colonoscopist at the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee and a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine in the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia.
Dr. Kheir received his medical degree from the University of Medical Sciences and Technology, Khartoum, Sudan. He completed his foundation medical training at the James Cook University Hospital in the UK. Following that, he completed Basic Physician training at the John Hunter Hospital and the University of Newcastle in Australia. He then completed his core gastroenterology and hepatology training at the Central Coast and Northern Sydney hospitals. After that, he completed an advanced therapeutic colonoscopy fellowship at the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Hospital in Brisbane, Australia. He also completed an advanced endoscopic training at the Kyushu University Hospital in Japan.
Dr. Kheir has particular interest and expertise in image-enhanced endoscopy, high-quality colonoscopy, bowel cancer screening in adults and inflammatory bowel disease, management of colonic polyposis, advanced endoscopic resection techniques, Barrett’s esophagus and screening for early gastric cancer. He presented at international meetings, published in peer reviewed journals and authored endoscopy textbook chapters.
