Introduction
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, will be holding a blood donation drive on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 10:00AM – 3:00PM.
We would like to invite members of the public who fit the below eligibility criteria to join our caregivers and donate much-needed blood.
Did you know, one pint of blood can save up to three lives? Donating is safe, quick and simple, with the actual donating time taking less than 10 minutes. Your donated blood will then be given to patients who need it the most.
In order to donate your blood, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be between the ages of 17 and 65, in good health and not under a doctor’s care for a serious health problem.
- Weigh at least 50kg.
- Have a haemoglobin level of at least 13.5gm/dl for males and 12.5gm/dl for females (your levels will be checked when you arrive for donation).
- Have not donated blood within the last 56 days.
- Be well rested and well hydrated before donating
- Eaten a small lunch or breakfast within two hours of donating.
Please also note the following:
- If you have tested positive for COVID-19, at least 10 days must have passed since your positive result, and you must be asymptomatic.
- If you have travelled outside the country recently, you must present two negative PCR results if you are asymptomatic.
- If you have received the Sputnik vaccine, you must wait at least 14 days before donating. You can donate the day after receiving any other COVID-19 vaccine as long as you are experiencing no side effects.
- If you have taken antibiotics for any kind of infection, you need to wait at least seven days after the last dose before donating.
