Dr. Waldyr Muniz

Dr. Waldyr Muniz, MD, is an Associate Staff Physician in the Integrated Hospital Care Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. Dr. Muniz is dedicated to delivering patient-centered anesthesia care, focusing on advanced techniques such as ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia and emphasizing quality, safety, and process improvement in all aspects of perioperative management.

Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Muniz worked as a Consultant Anesthesiologist in São Paulo, Brazil, providing anesthesia services for diverse surgical specialties, including robotic surgery, gynecology, urology, functional neurosurgery, plastic surgery, ENT, and general surgery.

During his tenure at Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein, he was an active member of the New Technologies Committee, leading initiatives to optimize patient care through data-driven decision-making. His role also involved managing quality performance indicators in anesthesia, developing clinical support tools within electronic medical records, and investigating adverse events to enhance patient safety.

Dr. Muniz obtained his medical degree from the Ribeirão Preto Medical School at the University of São Paulo, followed by a residency in Anesthesiology at the HCFMRP – Ribeirão Preto Medical School Clinics Hospital. He then pursued a postgraduate fellowship in Regional Anesthesia at the Instituto de Ensino e Pesquisa do Hospital Sírio Libanês.

Complementing his clinical expertise, Dr. Muniz earned an MBA in Healthcare Management from Fundação Getulio Vargas, a certificate in Healthcare Project Management Performance Excellence from Faculdade Israelita Albert Einstein (with dual certification from Université Paris Nanterre), and a specialist qualification in Healthcare Administration from the Brazilian Association of Preventive Medicine and Health Administration.
