14Dr. Ahmed AlHammadi, MD, is a Staff Physician within the Infectious Disease Department of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Hospital Care Institute.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. AlHammadi practiced as a Transplant Infectious Diseases Consultant at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City and AlRahba Hospital, UAE, and served as the Chair of Infection Control and Antimicrobial Stewardship Program. He also worked at Tawam Hospital and Sh Tahnoon Medical City and served as the Chair of Infection Control. He is also an adjunct assistant Professor of Internal Medicine at the College of Medicine and Health Science at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU).
Dr. AlHammadi completed medical school with Honor at the UAEU, Al Ain, UAE. He subsequently pursued an Internal Medicine residency at Saint Vincent Hospital (affiliated with UMass Chan Medical School), Worcester, MA and completed an Infectious Disease and Immunology fellowship at UMass Chan Medical School, Worcester, Massachusetts and UTHealth McGovern Medical School, Houston, Texas, US.
He also completed a second fellowship in Advanced Infectious Disease (Academic/Research Track) and Transplantation/Oncology Infectious Disease Fellowship at UTHealth McGovern Medical School/MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas, US. He also completed a Diploma in Tropical Medicine from Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas, US. He is American Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease and Texas Board Certified in Transplantation Infectious Disease.
Dr. AlHammadi has received multiple awards including Medical Quality Index award, Outstanding Faculty award and Best Faculty Research award. He led Phase II and Phase III clinical trials in COVID-19 vaccine trials and published multiple book chapters and more than 50 research articles in fungal infections, COVID-19, HIV, resistant bacterial infections, neglected tropical infections, tuberculosis, mpox, transplant infections in prestigious journals and is part of the UAE AMR Surveillance Consortium Group.
Dr. AlHammadi has extensive experience in treating infections in solid organ transplant recipients, stem cell transplant recipients, cancer and leukemia patients and general infectious disease.
