We have several resources in place to help patients and visitors navigate the hospital.
Patient and Guest Services Associates, known as “Red Coats,” are easily identified by their distinctive red jackets. Red Coats greet patients and visitors as they arrive at the hospital and provide directions or personally escort patients and visitors to their destination.
Direction signage is posted near key locations, including elevator banks and reception desks throughout the hospital. Select signage is color-coded to help patients and visitors identify specific areas of the medical campus.

Is Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi a private hospital?
Please note that Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is a semi-government hospital. When visiting Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, patients holding Thiqa insurance cards will benefit from coverage for treatment services availed at governmental healthcare (public) facilities.
What does “IP Only” mean?
Patients with all levels of Daman Enhanced plans can come to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for inpatient (IP) treatment and Day Care procedures such as: medical and surgical admissions, endoscopies, catheterizations, and sleep studies. Subject to medical authorization by Daman, these procedures and/or admissions will be financially covered for the patients on a direct billing basis with Daman itself.
What do “IP Only” services cover?
For cases authorized as inpatient treatment (medical and surgical), the coverage includes the physician’s fee (for the surgery/procedure), hospital stay, medication and supplies, and laboratory and diagnostic tests during the patient’s admission period. It also includes discharge medications and one free follow-up appointment with the provider in the outpatient clinics within a seven-day period.
For cases authorized as Day Care procedures, the one free follow-up appointment is not included.
Are pre-admission outpatient visits covered by Daman if I have an “IP Only” insurance plan?
No, they are not covered. Patients are expected to complete necessary diagnostic tests at an in-network facility to help determine their eligibility for CCAD services.
If I am willing to pay out of pocket for the pre-consultation, would the additional diagnostic investigations such as MRI, Echo, and EMG, be covered by Daman?
No, outpatient diagnostics and laboratory investigations are not covered under “IP Only” insurance plans. However, you can reimburse your services at CCAD from your insurer if your policy has an out-of-network reimbursement option.
Can I visit Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for a second opinion on my prescribed surgery and will it be covered by Daman?
Yes, you can visit Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for a second opinion. However, you will have to pay for your consultation yourself and any additional tests the physicians require. Daman may agree to issue a second opinion consultation preauthorization at a patient’s request, but this is subject to approval on a case-by-case basis.
My external physician wants to refer me to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for a cardiac MRI and nuclear stress test. Will these studies be covered by Daman?
Yes, external physicians can refer you to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. However, these tests may or may not be covered by your insurance company depending on your insurance coverage. Diagnostics are not covered under “IP Only” networks.
I am a physician who wants to refer my patient directly to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for a surgery or procedure. Will this treatment be covered by Daman?
Yes, Daman patients with “IP Only” networks will have their surgery or procedure covered on direct billing subject to medical authorization. External physicians are encouraged to send referrals to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi by filling in the “Contact Us” form on the website and selecting ‘referral’. A Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi physician will then evaluate the patient’s medical records.
I am a physician/provider who wants to refer a patient directly to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for a procedure under Center of Excellence (Stroke, Chest Pain, STEMI, and Adult Cardiothoracic surgeries). Will this be covered for out-of-network patients?

What is an Institute?
Replicated from Cleveland Clinic in the US, an Institute is a clinical organization model that groups physicians around a particular disease group or organ system, rather than physicians’ area of specialization.
For example, the Heart & Vascular Institute focuses on the heart and circulatory system. In the Institute Model, consultant cardiologist and cardiac surgeons work collaboratively within the same department (Institute) to treat a patient’s heart-related condition, rather than requiring the patient to consult with multiple departments and physicians.

The Emergency Medicine Institute operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, to provide emergency services to patients with serious illness or injuries requiring immediate attention; however, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi does not serve as a trauma center.

Our 175 physicians come from all over the world, and have been selected based on their fit for the organization. They have been evaluated through the same hiring standards and process as physicians at Cleveland Clinic in the US, so you can expect to receive the same caliber of care from Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi as you would at Cleveland Clinic in the US.
All of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Consultant Physicians are Western-trained, North American/European Board Certified (or equivalent) and licensed by the Health Authority-Abu Dhabi (HAAD).
