Transplant Program
Saving lives thanks to our innovative transplant expertise.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Transplant Program has performed over 1,000 transplants since its launch in 2017, transforming lives and establishing itself as a leading center for complex multi-organ transplant procedures in the region.
Designated a Center of Excellence for Adult Multi-Organ Transplants by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the program provides advanced, life-saving care for patients from the UAE and around the world.
Offering unmatched expertise and precision in adult multi-organ transplantation, the program tackles increasingly complex cases and leverages innovative, minimally invasive techniques, including the Middle East’s first robotic lung transplant and the UAE’s first robotic bilateral kidney transplant.
Central to the life-saving work we do is the generosity of organ donors and their families, whose selfless contributions enable patients to regain health, hope, and a new lease of life.

Lung Transplant
Our Lung Transplant Program, the UAE’s only established lung transplant facility, provides experienced care for patients who have received, or require, lung transplant surgery.
A lung transplant is a treatment option for patients with advanced end-stage lung diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, and interstitial lung disease (ILD), typically recommended when other available treatments have not been successful.
Our Lung Transplant Program is led by experts from around the world who specialize in providing comprehensive care both pre-and post-transplant.
The team was the first in the Gulf region to perform a robotic lung transplant, becoming one of only five centers worldwide to deliver this highly complex procedure.

Pancreas Transplant
Our Pancreas Transplant Program, led by expert transplant surgeons, endocrinologists and nephrologists, provides cutting-edge surgical and medical care for patients requiring a pancreas transplant.
A pancreas transplant is the ultimate treatment for type 1 diabetes, as it restores the cells that produce insulin. It may be considered for certain people with diabetes, including those who have trouble regulating their blood sugar with insulin injections, those who are at risk of dangerously high blood sugar with ketoacidosis, those with hypoglycemia unawareness, and those with renal failure.
Our program provides innovative transplantation services to patients from across the region and was the first in the UAE to perform a pancreas transplant and a combined kidney-pancreas transplant.
