Multidisciplinary Simulation Center

Our Multidisciplinary Simulation Center is a state-of-the-art, experiential clinical training hub.

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Multidisciplinary Simulation Center is the largest, multidisciplinary, multimodality hospital simulation center in the UAE.

Our primary aim is to advance healthcare education through experiential and reflective learning, resulting in improvement of patient safety and experience.

What is simulation-based education?

It’s an increasingly popular healthcare education methodology with a focus on experiential learning, in which caregivers practice real-life clinical scenarios within a controlled environment. Responsive mannequins and virtual reality equipment are used in these scenarios to provide the most authentic patient-caregiver clinical interactions.

The Simulation Center offers a range of Life Support training courses, delivered by AHA (American Heart Association) certified instructors. The courses on offer cover basic and advanced life support skills, advanced pediatric life support, and emergency cardiovascular care.

What type of simulators are used?

Human Patient Simulators

We use high-fidelity computerized, interactive mannequins integrated with software to replicate human physiological responses such as breathing and pulses. This allows caregivers to develop their skills in dealing with a full spectrum of clinical scenarios.

Haptic Simulators

These high-tech simulators replicate specific parts and systems of the human body and are used for simulating procedures and surgery. They give instant haptic and performance feedback based on real-life reactions.

Task Trainers

Low-tech simulators such as IV task trainers, basic mannequins, airway trainers, and heart and lung sound trainers are used to break down physical tasks and procedures into a series of steps for competency training.

How realistic is the Multidisciplinary Simulation Center?

The Multidisciplinary Simulation Center mirrors the hospital setting to provide an authentic environment for trainees.

The 24,000 sq. ft. center features state-of-the-art audiovisual systems for capturing and reflecting experiential learning, as well as a suite of training rooms which include:

  • Examination rooms
  • Operating rooms
