The first year of the residency program enhances general competencies in managing medication-use systems and supports optimal medication therapy outcomes for patients with a broad range of disease states.

What does Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi ‘s PGY1 program offer?
The Pharmacy Practice Residency (PGY1) program at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, one of only two accredited programs in the UAE, is designed to expose the resident to a variety of practice areas in an acute care environment in order to build and expand knowledge and skills necessary for direct patient care.
The program consists of a series of learning experiences that span a 24-month period. Specific learning experiences and goals will be accomplished in discrete blocks of time, while others will occur longitudinally throughout the duration of the residency. Residency time will be generally structured as follows:
- Orientation: 2 weeks
- Residency Learning Experiences/Rotations: 87 weeks
- Research Rotations: 4 weeks
- Staffing (every third weekend): 68 days
- Vacation, holidays, and emergency leave: 11 weeks
- Total weeks: 104 weeks

- Inpatient Pharmacy: 6 weeks
- Unit Based Pharmacy: 4 weeks
- Ambulatory Pharmacy: 4 weeks
- Pharmacotherapy Consult Service: 4 weeks

- Pharmacy Practice Management: 4 weeks
- Internal Medicine I: 4 weeks
- Infectious Diseases: 4 weeks

Additional activities include involvement in educational programs such as case conferences, journal clubs and seminar presentations, completion of a research project and participation in hospital committees. - Minimum 5-year BS degree in Pharmacy or Pharm. D, minimum GPA 3.0
