BMI Calculator

Are you at Risk?

Your BMI, or Body Mass Index is categorized from underweight to obese, and determines if you are at a healthy weight for your height. Being overweight or obese can be contributing factors to increasing your risk of heart disease and stroke.

To find out if you’re within your ideal weight range, use our quick BMI Calculator below.

Body mass index (BMI) is used to determine whether you are in a healthy weight range for your height. It is applicable to adult men and women.

It is important to remember that:

  • This calculator shouldn’t be used for pregnant women or children.
  • You could have a high BMI but be at a weight that is considered healthy if you are muscular or athletic.
  • You could have a normal BMI and have poor nutrition.
  • It is important to talk to your doctor about weight-related health risks.

Please consult your doctor or registered dietitian to initiate a treatment plan to help achieve a healthy weight, or to address unexpected weight loss.

Being overweight is a chronic condition and therefore needs a long-term plan aimed at weight reduction. Your doctor or registered dietician is the ideal person to initiate and monitor an organized treatment plan for you. This treatment plan should center on behavior modification.

Having a body mass index over 30 places you at risk for developing obesity-related medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and coronary artery disease.
