View DoctorsThere are many people in the UAE living with advanced kidney disease and over 2,000 people who have end-stage renal disease. These patients require regular, ongoing kidney dialysis and may eventually need a kidney transplant.
The kidneys play an important role in the body, filtering the blood and removing waste. In patients with kidney disease, the kidneys are unable to filter the blood, so this is done via regular dialysis. A kidney transplant improves quality of life and can double life expectancy compared to dialysis.
The Kidney Transplant Program at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi was established with the support of the Cleveland Clinic Transplant Center in the US, one of the largest and most successful kidney transplant programs in the world. Our experienced transplant team offers a multidisciplinary approach, and we work closely with our patients before, during and after transplantation to make sure they are medically and emotionally cared for, and that the best possible outcome is achieved.
Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Digestive Disease Institute provides innovative transplantation services to patients from across the region. Our center was the UAE’s first and only multi-organ transplant facility and has performed 386 transplants since its launch in 2017.
