Diagnosis & Treatment with Otolaryngology
Diagnosis with Otolaryngology
All patients visiting the Otolaryngology Program’s ENT clinic are initially greeted by a patient access representative and screened by the program’s nurses. This is followed by an ear, nose, and throat examination with a physician. This evaluation includes an endoscopy, when a thin, flexible tube is used to view the inside of the affected area. Depending on the patient’s condition, a laboratory workup, imaging studies, or further assessment by other specialties or allied health professionals may be necessary.
In cases of complex medical issues, the Otolaryngology Program may call a multidisciplinary board meeting to discuss the best course of treatment for the patient.
Treatment with Otolaryngology
Each patient’s diagnosed condition is treated by the relevant subspecialty. Complex problems may be addressed by multidisciplinary teams of specialists.
Treatment may be either medical or surgical. After treatment, patients are required to return to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for routine follow-up to ensure that a favorable outcome has been achieved.
Depending on the patient’s condition, the Otolaryngology Program at the Surgical Subspecialties Institute works collaboratively with the Neurology Institute, particularly for neurosurgery cases such as skull base surgeries.
