Patients can be assured they will receive a comprehensive diagnosis from the Eye Institute. Orthoptists who are experts in measuring eye movements evaluate vision, eye alignment, and the potential for developing lazy eye. Ophthalmologists confirm the test results, complete the medical and refractive evaluation, and order further testing as required. The full appointment takes approximately two hours.
During the assessment, the patient is given eye drops to dilate the pupils. Patients should arrange for assistance with transportation after the appointment, when vision is altered. Public transportation and taxi information can be found on Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s How to Get Here page.

The Eye Institute’s Eye Misalignment & Movement Disorders multidisciplinary team work together to provide the highest standard of care. Physicians with years of experience in their field evaluate patients in collaboration with orthoptists, and may also be supported by specialists from other Institutes, when needed.
