Maxim D. Hammer, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Neurological Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Hammer was a Clinical Neurologist at the Department of Neurology, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, US, starting as an Assistant Professor and later being promoted to Associate Professor. He has directed stroke care at various hospitals in the UPMC system. From 2015 to 2017, he was Clinical Vice Chairman of the Department of Neurology at UPMC.
Dr. Hammer received his medical degree from Dartmouth College, followed by Albany Medical College in New York State. He completed his neurology residency at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, US, where he was Chief Resident in his final year. Dr. Hammer then completed a vascular neurology fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
Dr. Hammer was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1969, and moved to the United States in 1983.
