Manish Kohli, MD, is a Staff Physician in the Medical Subspecialties Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. He also leads Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Wellness Committee. Dr. Kohli was the first physician to join Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi in 2010 and served as the hospital’s first Chief of Medical Informatics until 2015. He is an experienced leader in the US and emerging markets, and is a sought after speaker on clinical transformation through innovations in technology. Dr. Kohli is passionate about wellness, preventive care and lifestyle medicine, along with healthcare transformation through innovative technologies.
Prior to joining Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, Dr. Kohli served as Director of Global Programs and Healthcare Informatics with Partners Harvard Medical International’s (PHMI). As part of this role he spent nearly two years on initiatives in Dubai Healthcare City. Before relocating to the UAE, Dr. Kohli was the Medical Director of Clinical Information Systems at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland, US, where, in addition to seeing primary care patients, he led the successful implementation of a fully functionality electronic medical record (EMR). Along with his US and UAE experience, Dr. Kohli has worked internationally in India, Malaysia and Mexico.
He serves on the Global Board of the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) along with the HIMSS’ Asia Pacific Governing Council. Additionally, he is a member of Joint Commission International’s (JCI) Standards Advisory Panel.
A former Ronald W. Reagan Scholar, Dr. Kohli graduated from SIU School of Medicine, Springfield, Illinois, US, and completed residency training in Family Medicine at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center, Chicago, US, where he also served as Chief Resident. Subsequently, he completed Preventive Medicine training along with MPH and MBA in Medical Services Management at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. Additionally, Dr. Kohli has completed a Faculty Development Fellowship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, US, and the Tanger Fellowship in Patient Safety at the Center for Innovation in Quality Patient Care (CIQPC) at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, US.
Dr. Kohli is dually board certified in Clinical Informatics and Family Medicine. He is a Fellow of HIMSS and is the founding member of the Asian Society of Lifestyle Medicine. He maintains an active membership in American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM), American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM), Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA), American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) and Emirates Medical Association (EMA).
In his spare time, Dr. Kohli enjoys meditation and yoga, exploring new lands and cultures, fine arts, cooking and spending time with his family and friends. During medical school, he served as the founding editor of SCOPE, the literary and fine arts magazine of Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, which is now in its 23rd year of publication.
