Dr. Francisco A Lobo

Dr. Francisco A Lobo, MD, is a Staff Physician and the Director of Research in the Anesthesiology Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi. He also serves as a Staff Consultant Physician of General Anesthesiology and Neuroanesthesia.      

Prior to joining CCAD, Dr. Lobo served as Consultant at the Centro Hospitalar e Universitário do Porto, Porto, Portugal. He has also held the positions of Visiting Professor and Instructor of Anesthesia at the Washington University in St Louis, Missouri, US, Senior Consultant and member of Research Committee at Hamad Medical Corporation, Doha, Qatar and Locum Senior Consultant at Centro Hospitalar de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro, Vila Real, Portugal.      

Dr. Lobo received his medical degree from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences Abel Salazar, Porto University, Porto, Portugal and completed his Residency in Anesthesiology at the Hospital Geral de Santo Antonio/Centro Hospitalar e Universitário do Porto, Portugal.      

He started to be involved in Clinical Neurosciences applied to Anesthesiology (anesthesia for neurosurgery, neurocritical care, brain monitoring and anesthetic neuropharmacology) during his educational program. He has a special interest in anesthesia for awake and functional neurosurgery, intraoperative electroencephalogram and cerebral oximetry monitoring and pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics of Intravenous Anesthetic drugs and Multimodal General Anesthesia.      

Dr. Francisco Lobo has authored and published several studies, articles amd book chapters in the field of Neuroanesthesia, brain monitoring and Anesthetic Neuropharmacology. He also has vast experience as a lecturer at international meetings and conferences and serving in various scientific societies committees.      

Dr. Lobo resides in Abu Dhabi with his family (including 7 cats) and enjoys watching football (he is a strong supporter of Benfica of Lisbon!). He also likes to read (he loves everything about Beat Generation poets and novelists) and to travel to his beloved city of Porto.
