Our Clinical Training Programs

Clinical Observership Program

Clinical shadowing rotation for physicians, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals to observe clinical practices and activities in-situ. The program is purely observational and does not involve participation in actual clinical practice or direct patient care.

Target audience: Open range from university students up to practicing clinicians

Clinical Attachment Program

Elective rotation for physicians, nurses, pharmacists and allied health professionals to carry out supervised patient care. Rotations may be based on learning objectives set out by the applicant’s institution.

Physician Internship Program​

One-year post-graduate training program mandatory in the UAE for obtaining health professional licensing. The Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi internship program is designed to transition medical graduates to practicing clinicians and is open to UAE nationals only.

The curriculum includes rotations in:

  • Internal medicine
  • General surgery
  • Emergency medicine
  • Critical care
  • Pediatrics (at partnering hospital)
  • Additional electives

    One year structured training program based in Cleveland Clinic US. The internship program is open to top performing Emirati medical students, and offers enhanced opportunities for US-based residency program eligibility.

    Medical Education Advisory Committee

    Our Medical Education Advisory Committee (MEAC) plays an important role in supporting the objective of establishing Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi as an academic center of excellence. 

    The committee oversees and advises on matters related to undergraduate and graduate medical education, as well as continuing medical education (CME), across all health professional disciplines.

    Awards & Accreditations

    Designated Teaching Hospital by Department of Health

    ​Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi was awarded designation as a teaching hospital by the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi in June 2016, allowing the hospital to provide basic education and training programs including observerships, clinical attachments and internships.  In 2017, CCAD was later awarded designated as a teaching hospital that provides advanced training programs including residency and fellowships.

    All educational activities carried out are audited by the Department of Health in order to comply with their standards
