Dr. Abushamma is a Clinical Associate in the Medical Subspecialties Institute at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi.
Dr. Abushamma graduated with distinction from the University of Medical Science & Technology in Khartoum, Sudan in 2010.
She completed her internship at four different hospitals in Khartoum (from 2011 to 2012). Dr. Abushamma started her Master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacology in September 2012,and received the highest mark in Basic Pharmacology during the course. In February 201, she completed her MSc in Clinical Pharmacology and S started her career as a Medical Officer at The University Charity Teaching Hospital in Khartoum in September 2012. Her duties included diagnosing patients and updating and maintaining accurate records. In the following year, Dr. Abushamma worked as a Medical Officer at the Alribat University Teaching Hospital in Khartoum, Sudan. During her work, she participated in on call duties and management of emergency cases as well as assessed newly admitted patients and advised them in health education matters. In 2015 she passed the Membership of the Royal College of Physicians Physical Examinations I & II, in January and July, respectively. During this year, she returned to The University Charity Teaching Hospital as a Medical Officer in the Emergency Room, assessing newly admitted patients and ensuring co-ordination and delivery of all work activities. After that, Dr. Abushamma worked at the Dar Al Elaj Specialized Hospital as a resident in the Coronary Care Unit.
During and after her college years, Dr. Abushamma was active in charity work and has participated in more than ten convoys to different underdeveloped villages and rural areas around Sudan, providing medical & educational services as well as fund raising and research. Dr. Abushamma continues to take courses in personal development and team work. For example through the YALI-NETWORK (Young African Leaders Initiatives).
She is always keen to update her knowledge; hence, she actively takes part in scientific meetings and educational activities. She brings commitment to her patients, as well as enthusiasm for learning and passion for self-development.
